Research
I cross-check specialized online search engines and the Translation Bureau’s databases for all medical terminology.
A few details
Translating for the McGill University Health Centre has been an enriching and gratifying experience. Over the last two years, I have completed several patient questionnaires for the MUHC’s English-speaking clientele, as well as two long-form questionnaires (approximately 12,000 words each).
How I solved it
These questionnaires follow a strict style and tone and entail a combination of informal questions and technical medical terminology. They touch on sensitive and confidential matters – from psychological disorders to terminal diseases and serious medical side effects. Clarity and consistency are therefore paramount to successful translations in this field.
I cross-check specialized online search engines and the Translation Bureau’s databases for all medical terminology.
I consult with a specialized medical terminologist for technical texts like clinical trials and research papers.
The MUHC is one of Canada’s leading medical-research centres and I am dedicated to advancing its cause.
I believe in equal access to healthcare. Enabling communication in the medical field has been highly rewarding.
